Feger scores runner-up finish with World of Outlaws at Spoon River
A swing with the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series brought Bloomington, Illinois’ Jason Feger to Highland Speedway on Wednesday for the Beat the Heat 40.
With 31 entries taking on the quarter-mile oval, Feger followed up a runner-up showing in his heat with a consistent fifth-place finish in the 40-lap opener.
On Thursday at Spoon River Speedway, he again finished second in his heat before turning in his best run of the week in the feature. Charging forward three positions, Feger crossed the line in second, joining winner Bobby Pierce and third-place finisher Brian Shirley on the podium.
After Friday’s first leg of the doubleheader at Maquoketa Speedway was rained out, Feger returned to the Iowa oval on Saturday for the Hawkeye 100 finale. Rolling off from the fifth row in the $20,000-to-win main event, he came away with an 11th-place finish.
